Works - Hans Foks

Untitled / 2022, 2024

What began as a series of photos taken during a trip to Norway on an early morning in a forest by the water transformed into a new journey of development once I returned home. These images were converted to black and white and oriented in a way that I felt best suited them.

This series was shaped by feeling. I explore the image I want to create, and this series evolved from documenting a moment and situation into a collection of images driven by intuition.

When photographing landscapes, I usually start by observing. It takes some time, but there comes a moment when I feel a connection with my surroundings. By prioritizing that feeling, it’s no longer about looking and searching, but about being moved and capturing that.

The images explore tangibility, texture, comfort, softness, and contrasts. By creating abstraction and playing with (un)recognizability, an intuitive layer emerges in the images. The emphasis is on their vulnerable side.
