Les Rocks - 2023
In search of a new perspective on coastal landscapes, I visited the northwest coast of France in spring 2023. Rough stones and strong tidal dynamics shape the landscape, surrounded by the clear presence of the Atlantikwall, giving this area a unique historical perspective.
As the land crumbles into the sea over time, the layers from which it's built are most visible here, at the edge. The combination of soft gold stone and vulnerable grey/black layers undergoes various treatments due to the sea weather from the Channel and tides with significant differences in height.
Being surrounded by a historical landscape made me interested in capturing the contrasts in color, structure, scale, and texture.
